These DIY stained glass suncatchers area sure to brighten your day! Use a template or your imagination to create the suncatcher’s shape, then use markers to color it your favorite colors. These suncatchers look awesome hanging in the window, but they’re also really fun to play with. Shine a flashlight over them to experiment with colorful shadows!

You Need:

To Make:

  1. Add some black paint to your glue, either in the glue bottle or a separate squeeze bottle, and mix thoroughly

  2. Tape the template to the transparency film, printed side down, so that you can see the shape from the other side of the film.

  3. Make the suncatcher outlines by tracing the outline of the shapes with the black glue.

  4. Once the outlines are done let it dry (it may take overnight to dry completely)

  5. Color the different sections with permanent markers and cut it out.

  6. Hang it up against the window to enjoy!

Tips:

  • Make sure your black glue is very well mixed and make it a day ahead of time if you can. The glue seems to have a nicer consistency when it’s had a chance to sit for a while before using it.

  • Test your black glue on scrap paper to get an idea of how fast it flows out.
